2010 Tennessee Walker Gelding

Jasper is owned by the Rector family who purchased him for their daughter, Ava, to ride and for use in EAL here at Changing Rein. Jasper partners with us in ground and connection work. He has been recovering from hoof damage he suffered when he foundered. With specialized shoeing and gentle work, his movement is dramatically improving. He is learning how to walk properly with the heel striking the ground first, rather than the toe.

Jasper has an exceptionally gentle nature. He is quiet and non-reactive, has excellent ground manners, and is a wonderful herd member, capable of getting along peacefully with the majority of the herd. He will reach over gates and stall doors to greet you and invite pets and scratches. He has also been known to watch lessons in the arena very closely!

Because of his history, he can only be pastured in a dry lot where he cannot eat fresh grass, and we must be careful to manage his sugar and carbohydrate intake. Once he heals and doesn’t have pain, he can be ridden again and we anticipate he will be an excellent mount to teach beginning riders.
